Come November; North Carolinians will face two very different candidates for a seat in the United States Senate. A former state House member (2007-2015), who also served as Speaker of the House (2011-2015), and the current U.S. Senator representing North Carolina, Republican Thom Tillis, is running for re-election. Tillis will face the Democratic nominee, Cal Cunningham, a military veteran who served one term (2000-2002) in the state Senate.
Tillis is staunchly pro-life. In a press release last week from NARAL, the nation’s leading pro-choice advocacy group, Tillis was described as one of President Trump’s “biggest cheerleaders” in the Senate. “Since Sen. Tillis was the Speaker of the North Carolina House, he has supported every anti-abortion and anti-choice bill that has come his way,” said Tara Romano, Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice North Carolina.”
For conservative evangelicals, Romano’s disparagement of Tillis is a reverse endorsement, showing Tillis not only talks the talk but walks the walk when it comes to pro-life issues. He faithfully represents what’s most important to them.
Cunningham, however, has received not only one endorsement from a major abortion group, but two within the last ten days.
Alexis McGill, the Acting President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Federation of America and the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, announced on Wednesday via Twitter:
“This November, we’re going to shift the balance of power in this country by electing leaders who will stand with us and fight to ensure that everyone has access to sexual and reproductive health care, including abortion.
“Defeating Thom Tillis is one of @PPact’s top priorities in 2020. That’s why @PPact is proud to support @CalforNC [not to be associated with the CAL or Christian Action League] for U.S. Senate! Cal [Cunningham] stands with the 1 in 5 women who walk into Planned Parenthood health centers at some point in her life, and he will defend North Carolinians’ rights
“So, in November, North Carolinians will have a choice for U.S. Senate between a Trump-endorsed pro-life incumbent, and a progressive Democrat that wants to help women shout their abortion from the rooftops.”
What a shame – to “shout their abortion from the rooftops.” What insolence before a Holy God – the Creator and Giver of precious life.
Planned Parenthood is the nation’s premier abortion provider and has even been caught selling in Naziesque fashion the body parts of aborted babies.
In the same press release from NARAL – Pro-Choice America, which vilified Tillis, Cal Cunningham, was endorsed by the group with high praise.
“Cal Cunningham is a true champion for women and families, is the leader North Carolinians deserve, and we look forward to sending him to the U.S. Senate,” said the press release. “Cunningham has pledged to fight back against Republican-led efforts to attack reproductive freedom, and has expressed his commitment to safeguarding Roe v. Wade and maintaining funding for Planned Parenthood.”
To accept the endorsement of these two groups, pledging to support their wickedness, is to share in their judgment from Almighty God. It doesn’t matter whether the individual seems to be a good family man, has an honorable military career, and an appealing demeanor. The Bible warns the devil himself can come as an “angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14).
But it’s not just the abortion issue that ought to cause conservative evangelicals concern about Cunningham; it’s also Cunningham’s promise to support the Democratic ticket, whatever it is, this fall. Tillis has recently been pointing this out in a new campaign ad.
One does not need to belabor, neither minimize, that Democrats have to an alarming degree embraced Socialism.
Bernie Sanders refers to himself as a Democratic Socialist, which is a Socialist, plain and simple. Sanders excoriates the 1% – contending that they shouldn’t have so much money – an argument based on envy and inherent to Socialist dogma. He condemns big corporations (the same ones that provide thousands and thousands of jobs). He wants to raise the minimum wage to $15 (something that would destroy countless small businesses). He calls for free health care and free college, etc. As the turbo tax commercial says, “Free, free, free, free, free, free.” Except all that Sanders touts is not free but exceedingly expensive. His Socialist proposals would bankrupt the nation. Yet Sanders has become a serious contender for the nomination of the Democrat Party not once, but twice.
Sanders’ candidacy and his support demonstrate how pervasive Socialism is within the Democrat Party and the seeming all-American Cunningham voices no qualms with his fellow Democrats over it.

News flash: More Socialism for America is not remotely American, and its redistribution of wealth policies are far removed from the capitalist system that has not only enriched the U.S. but the world.
Furthermore, few Americans understand that abortion has a connection with Socialism and Communism.
Dr. Paul Kengor, an author and professor of political science at Grove City College in Pennsylvania, and someone who has written often about Socialism and Communism has correctly argued:
“Socialism is, in Marxist theory, the final transitory step to Communism.”
In his incredible book, “Takedown,” Kengor traces the roots of the anti-family movement through the sordid history of these two godless groups.
He writes regarding abortion:
“Long before American pro-choice liberals were touting slogans like ‘This is my body’ – which, chillingly, is an inversion of the precise sacrificial words of Jesus Christ – or ‘My body, my choice’ or ‘Keep your hands off my body,’ communist women in Germany in the 1920s were urging abortion under the slogan, ‘Your body belongs to you.’ In so many areas, including radical changes in sexuality, communists were simply decades ahead of American liberals/progressives, with the latter eventually catching up to the communists or evolving to their position. Abortion is a painful example.”
In 1845, the American poet, James Lowell, wrote:
“Once to every man and nation comes the moment to decide.
In the strife of truth with falsehood, for the good or evil side.”
Yes, in the North Carolina race for the U. S. Senate, good and evil are weighed in the balance. Those who seek to operate in life according to God’s Word should know the difference.
