JACKONSVILLE — “When we are better informed, we can become better involved,” said the Rev. Jack Marshburn, pastor of Tar Landing Baptist and host for the Christian Action League’s Eastern Region Convention, set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The event, to be held at the church at 3884 Richlands Highway, is the third of three such sessions across the state designed to inform and inspire.
The meeting in Onslow County is open to all but should be most convenient for Christians in the Eastern Region, from Northampton and Currituck counties in the north to Brunswick in the south and Dare on the coast. It will include a word from Sen. Harry Brown, R-Onslow, who will address the state’s need for a Marriage Amendment as well as other important legislation that hasn’t been allowed debate.
Speakers will also include the Rev. Mark Creech, executive director of the Christian Action League; Alysse ElHage with the North Carolina Family Policy Council; and Jeff Mixon with Americans for Prosperity.
In addition to those listed above, other counties in the eastern region are: Beaufort, Bertie, Camden, Carteret, Chowan, Craven, Duplin, Edgecombe, Gates, Greene, Halifax, Hertford, Hyde, Jones, Lenoir, Martin, Nash, New Hanover, Pamlico, Pasquotank, Pender, Perquimans, Pitt, Tyrrell, Washington, Wayne, Wilson.
There is no charge for Saturday’s event, which will include lunch hosted by Tar Landing Baptist. Pre-registration for the meeting is not required. To find out more, phone the Christian Action League at (919) 787-0606.
