“I have a cartoon in my office which shows a hospitalized man on a bed. He’s green in the face, looking haggard, with several tubes and IVs attached to his body. A preacher stands over him with a Bible in one hand while pointing toward heaven with the other, and shouting, ‘Renounce the devil!’ To which the sick man replies, ‘I ain’t in no condition to antagonize nobody.’ I think that’s the way much of the country is about this so-called pandemic. In general, the public has been immobilized by their fears when what’s needed is to trust God and get on with life. I’m not saying COVID isn’t real. But I do think we’re finding out that the threat this illness poses for the mass majority of us has been grossly exaggerated. It has been politicized by nefarious forces that want to take away our liberties, more specifically, our religious freedoms.”
