Press Release from Rep. Garland Pierce (D-Scotland)
RALEIGH – The 2008 Capitol Ministries’ Pastor’s Day at the Capitol will be held on Tuesday, July 8. Pastor’s Day is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. with a Prayer Breakfast in the Legislative Dining Room. There are many planned activities and many of the state’s lawmakers will be in attendance, along with pastors from throughout North Carolina. This event is designed to equip and motivate pastors and their leadership to better minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ to government leaders.
During their time together they will be given the opportunity to meet and pray with many of the legislators. The keynote speaker will be Pastor Carey Hardy, pastor of Twin City Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, and former Senior Executive Pastor and personal assistant to Pastor John MacArthur. Jim Young, Capitol Ministries’ North Carolina State Director, will also be sharing with the attendees.
The attention this year will be on how you can better lead your congregation in praying for, and sending people into the political arena with a Kingdom building mentality. To better equip you and your church for ministering in this arena, they will provide some helpful ministry tools. They are looking forward to seeing many pastor’s at this wonderful event.
NOTE: Church members will provide housing for those who desire to come in Monday evening and/or stay over Tuesday evening. A list of local hotels can also be provided. Please dress in suit and tie.
The cost is $75 for the first person registering from your church, and $25 for each additional member or leader. Scholarship help is available, for questions contact Reverend Jim Young, 919-630-5975. Please do not let the cost deter you from attending.
“I am asking that all pastor’s from across the state of North Carolina will make this a priority to join us for this strategically important outreach event-Pastor’s Day at the Capitol-on Tuesday, July 8,” said Rep. Pierce.
