“We feel close to everybody at Christmas. Christmas is a time of sharing. But not according to these government regulations during the pandemic. Christmas was meant to dispel our fears. Yes, COVID presents its dangers, but our government fosters an atmosphere of fear that isn’t warranted for a virus that has a 99% recovery rate. Until recently, medical experts for decades warned against disturbing social functioning in the event of disease. I won’t throw caution to the wind, but I won’t live in this fear. I intend to be close to family this Christmas, gathering with as many as will come for Christmas dinner or celebrations, sharing with handshakes and hugs with those who won’t recoil from me in fear. And as far as I’m concerned, if my government doesn’t approve, it can take a long walk on a short pier. God or the Constitution doesn’t warrant the government imposing the kinds of policies we’ve been witnessing across the country.”
