Have you seen Rev. Mark Creech’s gospel tract, The Pandemic and the Fear of Death? It’s a relevant and powerful message for the times.
In the tract, Rev. Creech highlights how the pandemic has forced people to acknowledge their mortality, causing many to panic, retreat into their lockdown spaces, hide behind their masks, and obey seemingly any mandate imposed by the state. Some precautions and health protocols are warranted, says Creech, but much of what we’re witnessing by the public is a paralyzing fear of death.
Rarely do most people ever give thought to God “or the need to prepare for the end,” writes Creech. The pandemic, he contends, points us to our most profound and most urgent need – the need to prepare to meet our Creator.
“People who make God central to their lives don’t suffer the fear of death as others typically do. Every day we hear bad news related to the pandemic, but the Gospel is good news. The good news is that Christ won the victory over death, and no one who puts their trust in him needs to fear it. Jesus promised, ‘Because I live, you shall also live (Jn. 14:19)’,” Creech argues in the tract.
At the end of the tract, Rev. Creech proceeds to tell the reader each step they need to take to claim this remarkable confidence in life for themselves.
Rev. Creech said he had the tracts printed at his own expense. “There wasn’t a line item in the Christian Action League’s budget where this kind of expenditure fit,” he said. “So I just had them printed myself.”
“I consider it, however, a part of the League’s overall ministry. The Christian Action League is a public-policy organization. We’re about representing Christian ethics in the political arena, more specifically, in the halls of the state legislature. But there is nothing more important for us to do than present the Gospel of salvation to lawmakers, their staff, and others who come to the Legislative Building in Raleigh,” he added.
Gospel tracts are an essential means for planting the seed of God’s Word in people’s hearts.
It’s also an excellent means for believers to share their faith without feeling intimidated because they might not know the right words to say.
The Scriptures admonish followers of Christ to share the Gospel wherever they go. A gospel tract like this one by Rev. Creech is one way to obey that command. God will use this means of communication to redeem lives and make people heaven-bound. Silence is not an option for any professing Christian, and this tract provides a relevant message with a concise but thorough explanation of God’s plan of salvation.
