Let me first be sure to say there are many good teachers in our public schools. However, it appears even good teachers have to support programs that are using schools to become successful instruments for leftist social reform.
Teachers are overworked and should not be responsible for all the “extras” pushed upon them. These “extras” cause good teachers to fail at their core mission to educate children in basic education.
Cathy Ruse, a Senior Fellow for Legal Studies with the Family Research Council, asks a very important question:
“What would happen if a child were to spend most of his formative years bent on persuading him to adopt certain fundamental beliefs”? There is no mystery to that question. Children are easy to manipulate. They are eager to please. Children will largely eventually yield to days and years of pressure and embrace beliefs that are thrust upon them even if the beliefs are against all values they may have been taught in their homes.
Many of America’s public school systems have become morally toxic, especially for the hearts and minds of children from religious families. A deeply researched new book by authors Mary Hasson and Theresa Farnan is titled “Get Out Now: Why You Should Pull Your Child From Public School Before It’s Too Late.” They rightly point out, “the threat does not come from the dedicated teachers who are just trying to do their jobs but from progressive ideologues who have become our nation’s education elites.”
The National Network of State Teachers of the Year is dead set on pushing a book list for elementary students with themes of classism, racism, xenophobia, sexism, and transgenderism. So, while schools are becoming successful instruments for leftist social reform, they are failing badly at their core mission of providing basic education.
Education Secretary Betsy DeVos says what’s happening is “devastating.” She points out that “two-thirds of American students can’t read at grade level, and reading scores have worsened in 31 states”. What are the areas of concern? Sex education is the most apparent area for indoctrination because well funded international pressure groups have been extraordinarily successful at pushing “Comprehensive Sexuality Education” into our public schools. That program promotes sexual behavior to vulnerable teens disguised as “rights” and focuses on LGBTQ sexuality which includes “lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning as a victim class with lessons carefully disguised to encourage children to approve homosexual behavior and reject the beliefs and the authority of parents.”
Is it happening in North Carolina? Yes, mostly unknown to the public. A.P. Dillon, a local Freelance Reporter, and Counselor specializes in observing, and researching what’s being taught in the County School Systems. Space does not allow room here to list all that’s happening. You can, however, visit the website “LadyLiberty1885.com” for eye-opening details. If your child is in the system, it would be wise to check it out.
