“It used to be that people had a more definite sense that death wasn’t the end but the start of something new, whether good or bad. Unlike today when strong medications are given during a person’s last moments, some people on their deathbeds would speak of seeing heaven’s bliss before them or damnation’s destruction. Nothing is more important than preparing for this moment at any age, but it’s especially urgent if you’re age places you at the jumping-off point. The Lord promises in Isaiah 46:4, “Even to your old age, I am He, and even to gray hairs, I will carry you!… I will carry, and will deliver you.” God will still cleanse and forgive us when we’ve wasted our lives and not lived for him. He still loves us. He offers eternal life to everyone who will make peace with Him and trust Jesus Christ to save and carry them through the gateway of death.”
