Voter Comparisons on Pro-Life Issues Now Available to Churches

CAL Executive Director urges Christians to take full advantage of them

Your vote in November’s election could be a matter of life or death for hundreds if not thousands of unborn children as candidates for the U.S. House and Senate will set the agenda regarding abortion in the United States. That’s why it is more important than ever for you to know where your candidates stand. And North Carolina Right to Life wants to help.

“National Right to Life has prepared a comparison piece showing where the candidates for U.S. Senate — Richard Burr and Elaine Marshall — stand on abortion,” said Barbara Holt, president of NCRTL. “We are willing to ship this to churches free of charge if they provide us with a shipping address and the number of comparisons the church will need to distribute to its members.”

She said the information sheets will arrive before Oct. 10 so that churches will have time to hand them out before early voting begins on Oct. 14. And for those churches in Congressional Districts 2, 8, 10 and 13, the U.S. House candidates’ views on abortion will also be compared.

Although North Carolina Right to Life Inc., a 501 c(4) organization, welcomes donations, no monetary contribution is required to receive the voter information. It is absolutely free.

“What is most important is that this information gets into the hands of voters so they can make an informed decision about the candidates for Congress,” Holt said.

To view a scorecard of pro-life roll call votes of current U.S. House and Senate members, go to www.nrlc.org and click on the NRLC Legislative Action Center link on the right side. Choose the session and then North Carolina to see how Tar Heel lawmakers voted on key issues.

“We can’t stress enough how important it is for folks to stay informed and to make sure their pro-life beliefs are reflected in the voter booth,” said the Rev. Mark Creech, CAL executive director of the Christian Action League. “These Right to Life resources make it easier than ever. We urge Christians to take full advantage of them.”

Take Christian Action: Pastors and other church leaders are encouraged to contact North Carolina Right to Life at 336-274-LIFE (5433) to request the comparisons. The e-mail is info@ncrtl.org. Include the shipping address and the number needed. For more information on North Carolina Right to Life, log on to www.ncrtl.org.
