Their Faith Shipwrecked

By Dave Eden, Eden Political Cartoons

“I’ve seen quite a few people who once made a profession of faith, but now appear to be shipwrecked. Faith itself is a gift from God. It’s not something we can muster up ourselves. When God regenerates the dead soul in trespasses of sin, he puts a faith within that enables endurance. This faith endures because Christ now lives inside and keeps his redeeming energy alive. A believer may backslide and even fall into gross sin, but if the profession of faith is genuine, it eventually pulls that person out of the mire and upward toward God. When someone makes a shipwreck of their faith, that individual gives evidence of trusting in their own power to save rather than Christ’s. Christ within keeps one’s devotion and obedience to him alive.”
