The Christian Action League needs your help badly. But I’m afraid that too many people will ignore this request for three reasons.
First, sometimes it’s simply because they aren’t aware of the need. It is not unusual for the League to fall behind in the summer months. However, we are now getting into the critical stage. Here’s the way our immediate needs breakdown:
Pay to staff, $3, 743.49
Insurance, $ 475.00
Website maintenance: $ 420.00
Reporters (contractual), $ 600.00
Total: $ 5, 238.49
Second, sometimes people don’t recognize the value of giving to Christian ministry. It has an interest rate that is literally “out of this world.”
The apostle Paul admonished in Galatians 6: 6-10: “Let him that is taught in the word share with him that teacheth in all good things. Be not deceived, God is not mocked, for whatever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption, but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well-doing; for in due season we will reap if we faint not. As we have, therefore, opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.”
Many fail to see the context of Paul’s words in this text is about giving. The apostle isn’t espousing a prosperity gospel but merely talking about a promise from God concerning our contributions to Christian ministry. The late, Montgomery Boice explained it this way:
“Paul’s great principle here is that money spent on the body – to clothe, feed, house, or entertain it – while it has value for this life, has no lasting fruit for eternity. Money spent in obedience to the Lord, to spread the Gospel and to meet the needs of the poor and suffering, [and we could also add, to bring God’s word to bear on the critical public-policy issues of our day that deeply impact our culture’s moral climate], will have results not only in this life but in eternity also.”
Third, sometimes people grow weary in well-doing and fail to give when they could. In the previous quoted passage from Galatians 6, note that Paul encourages the followers of Christ not to grow weary in well-doing. Remember the context of his words is about giving.
Today it seems Christians are inundated with requests to give – requests from the church – numerous other worthwhile causes from outside the church. They are constantly confronted with these requests on the radio, television, and the internet. They are asked to donate at work. The appeals seem endless. So, they grow weary of so many.
Nevertheless, the apostle says we shouldn’t become frustrated or jaded by all these people and groups who have their hands held out for money. Instead, we should recognize that there will always be need, even great need, but we should always be open and ready to give as we are able. Let us not grow tired of it, because each request provides an opportunity to invest in those things that not only have an earthly impact for good, but will reap eternal dividends, if we don’t lose heart.
Someone once wrote, “Giving to the Lord is but transporting our goods to a higher floor.”
Our needs at the Christian Action League are getting to the critical stage and we need your financial assistance. Would you prayerfully consider giving to meet those needs at this time? Would you remember us in your giving?
Many of you reading this could give out of your abundance. Others of you would be making a sacrifice. But nothing a believer gives in Christ’s name and for the advancement of his purposes (not even a glass of water, Matt. 10:42) is ever lost. It always comes back to you, if not in this life, in the one to come.

You’ve probably heard this before. But allow me to share it in closing. It’s a story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody. I admit that I’ve revised it just a little to make my point.
There once was four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody. There was an important cause that needed funds, and Everybody was sure Somebody would give to it, Anybody could have given something, but Nobody did. Everybody thought it was a worthy cause, even a critical one, and Somebody thought Anybody should give, but Nobody gave anything. And it ended up that when the cause failed, Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody gave what Everybody or Anybody might have given.”
Won’t you please help us? It’s not so much the Christian Action League that you would be helping, as it would be advancing the cause of Christ in the public arena.
Thanks to Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, for generously contributing what Nobody would end up giving if you didn’t do something.
