During a rally held in support of HB 2 on April 11th on the lawn of the Capital Building in Raleigh, Dr. Mark Creech, executive director of the Christian Action League, announced another rally was being planned for April 25th on the Halifax Mall.
Return America will be the host and its president, Ron Baity, shared with Dr. Creech on Friday that plans for the next rally are still in development and it too should be another exciting event with thousands more in attendance than the first.
This rally, like the last one, is being held in support of the Governor and state lawmakers for their passage of HB 2, commonly referred to as “the bathroom bill.” The bill was a response to an egregious ordinance passed by the City of Charlotte which would have permitted an individual, regardless of his or her biological anatomy, to use any restroom, locker room, shower, or changing room that he or she subjectively identified. The ordinance created a loophole that sexual predators could exploit, putting women and children in situations of danger. The ordinance would have also unfairly allowed the government to overreach into private businesses and churches by forcing them to promote ideas and participate in events that conflict with their beliefs.
Here is what has been confirmed so far. Starting at 11:15 a.m., as a prelude to the rally time of 12: noon, the Southern Gospel Music group, the Calvary Quartet will provide a Gospel Music concert. The group’s 2016 Itinerary shows them singing in Virginia, South Carolina, West Virginia, Georgia, Florida, and Ohio.
Confirmed speakers for the event include the Benham Brothers, Dr. Mark Harris, John Rustin, Ron Baity, and Dr. Mark Creech. Additional national speakers are expected to come too.
An Urgent Bulletin about the rally on the Return America website, reads:
“Our state legislators and governor recently showed courage when they passed and signed into law House Bill 2. This law is a reversal of the “bathroom bill” the Charlotte City Council passed which permitted men to enter women’s restrooms.
“Since the passage of HB 2, over 100 companies have put pressure on our state legislators and governor to reverse the bill. This must not happen! Therefore, we have scheduled a major rally in Raleigh on April 25, 2016, at 12 noon to both show our appreciation for what our governor and state legislators have done and to encourage them to stay the course.
“This is one of the most important rallies Return America has sponsored! If HB 2 is overturned, the ramifications to our entire state will be devastating…
“We must have thousands present to show our support for a woman’s right to enter the restroom areas designated only for women.
“Please begin announcing this information to your churches and ask your people to attend this most important rally.”
Dr. Creech said, “We have to take the long look in a fight like this. We’ll need perseverance to see this through. We need to be praying regularly for our Governor and state lawmakers. We need to be praying for the defeat of the forces of sin and evil. We especially need to be praying to be pure and upright in our own lives. And we need to be attending and participating in rallies and other events like the one planned for the Halifax Mall on April 25th.”
Dr. Creech added, “The Christian Action League urges its supporters to make plans to attend the rally. Announce it in Sunday School and church. Plan a trip with some of your friends. Or get up a bus load of folks and come to Raleigh.”
Special Prayer Requests:
The Christian Action League has learned that Gov. McCrory will be on Meet the Press With Chuck Todd on Sunday, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. The program re-airs at 2:00 p.m. on Sundays. It’s our understanding the Governor will be defending HB 2. Let’s pray that God will give him grace to speak to the issue with eloquence, persuasive articulation, and power.
