“What Matters”
January 20, 2017

If you are 50 years-old or older you might not know what a Podcast is these days. But it seems it could be the future of talk radio in the 21st Century. You don’t have to tune in on your “squawk box.” Instead, you just access a link on your personal computer at your convenience and listen to a pre-recorded broadcast.
One up and coming Podcast is “What Matters,” hosted by Mark Shiver. Shiver has nearly 20 years of broadcast media experience as a host, producer and on-air talent for several different music formats. Shiver is also a writer and he’s been involved in politics and government for much of his adult life.
Dr. Mark Creech, executive director of the Christian Action League, said, “The thing I like about Mark’s program is that he’s trying to keep you in the loop about what really matters in the Tar Heel state from Manteo to Murphy. He’s closely watching what’s happening in the legislature while interviewing key figures who are “in-the-know.” His purpose is the get you engaged in the process. But best of all, Mark’s a believer and his broadcasts are laced with a Christian worldview.”
This week, one of the figures Shiver interviewed was N.C. Lieutenant Governor Dan Forest, a beloved public servant among conservative evangelicals. Shiver asked Forest about some of the legislation that could be expected in the 2017 legislative session, as well as the relationship between a Republican-controlled legislature and Governor Roy Cooper.
Most interesting is the discussion Shiver has with Forest about the NCGA leadership’s willingness to repeal HB 2. It’s a great interview. Listen to it by clicking here.
