“God went straight to the heart of the matter. Adam’s discrimination was his incrimination. ‘Who told thee that thou wast naked?’ Adam must be made to confess his sin. Instead of doing so, however, he came up with a despicable excuse: ‘The Woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree and I did eat.’ Is there a more meager page on all the botched record of man’s life upon the earth? First, he tried to blame God – ‘The woman thou gavest me’; then he tried to blame his wife – ‘she gave me’; and finally he confessed his sin, ‘I did eat.’…[H]ow deep were the ravages of sin.”
