‘Please read, don’t quickly dismiss, pause and pray,’ ask executive director
Christian Action League
April 15, 2013

Dear Friend,
I’m writing to ask for your help. Please don’t quickly dismiss this request. Let me encourage you to read this entire short correspondence. When finished, then pause and pray.
I don’t like writing a note such as this one. You know from the number of emails you have received from the Christian Action League that I rarely ask for your financial assistance. Nevertheless, sometimes it’s unavoidable.
We run a tight ship at the CAL office during these days of economic hardship. I think if most people knew what we’ve accomplished with the funds available to us, they would be amazed. Long hours of hard work by a limited staff, already doing double-duty, seek to make up for the limited resources. Furthermore, there is no way we can make further cuts to our budget and still retain the same effectiveness.
Truly, we need your financial assistance at this time.
Currently, we have expenses for contractual work, media, phones, internet, lobbying and postal services that total nearly $6,750.00. Our landlord is a gracious and patient Christian man, who very much believes in what we do, but we need to catch him up on our rent for office space, which is the bulk of our expenses. We owe $7,200 in rent from September 2012 to March 2013. Total need is $13,950.00.
Since January, the Christian Action League has been running its 500@100 Campaign. We believe that if just 500 people, churches, etc., will send the League a one-time gift of $100, we can finish in the black. Garnering those 500 commitments is essential to making ends meet. Thus far, we’ve had just a little over 200 people to give a $100.00 contribution.
Will you help us? Maybe the Lord is leading you to provide all these funds. Maybe the Lord is leading you to provide a significant portion of them. Maybe the Lord is leading you to give a $100.00 contribution, as a part of our campaign. Maybe you can only give something smaller. But whatever the case, I hope you will pause after reading this, pray and ask God if he would have you to give something.
I wish that like many other ministries we had a fancy lapel pin, or a book, or some other item we could send you in return for your generosity. But unless such items are donated, they just cost us additional funds that we need. I can only say that we desperately need your gift, we would greatly appreciate your gift, and unless people like you take our request seriously, we won’t be able to continue doing what we do – something that is unquestionably strategic to the moral climate of our great state.
We need to address this debt immediately. Once again, I’m requesting you pray and ask God what he might have you to do to help us.
