“Blaming others and not taking responsibility for our sins or blunders is as old as Adam and Eve. When God confronted the first man and woman for eating the forbidden fruit, Adam tried to blame God – ‘The woman that you gave me,’ he said. Then he tried to blame his wife, ‘she gave me’ the forbidden fruit, he said. The woman was no better. She blamed the serpent: ‘The serpent beguiled me,’ she argued, ‘and I did eat.’ In other words, ‘Don’t blame me; it was the serpent’s fault.’ The first step to positively dealing with a serious problem is not to pass the buck, but to take responsibility.”
