Dr. Creech released two statements this week regarding two important events. The first was his remarks concerning Senator Ted Cruz’s actions during the National Republican Convention. The second was his full statement on the decision of the National Basketball Association (NBA) to move the 2017 All-Star Game from Charlotte because of HB 2, commonly known as “the bathroom bill.”
You may have already read one or both of them. Nevertheless, the Christian Action League is posting them as his “Right Frame of Mind” column for supporters who may not have read one or either of them.
I Don’t Believe Cruz Did the Right Thing
Thursday, July 21, 2016
I endorsed Ted Cruz during the Primary season, but I don’t believe he did the right thing last night during the Republican Convention in Cleveland. I believe you can stick to your principles and still be gracious. His actions were inappropriate for the Convention, a place and time when the Party rallies around its nominee.
Cruz’s behavior can be likened to a fellow who toast the bride and groom at their wedding, but implies with the toast the bride should have married him.
I want to believe that Cruz is better and bigger in character. Moreover, I believe Christians are held to a higher standard.
This morning, while speaking to a group from the Texas delegation, Cruz reportedly said, “I am not in the habit of endorsing men who insult my wife and father.” Such a statement is indicative of bitterness.
I am certainly not one to quote from Jesse Jackson, but truth is truth no matter from whose mouth it may come. In his address before the 1984 Democratic Convention, Jackson told this story:
“I went to see Hubert Humphrey three days before he died. He had just called Richard Nixon from his dying bed, and many people wondered why. I asked him. He said, “Jesse, from this vantage point, with the sun setting in my life, all of the speeches, the political conventions, the crowds and the great fights are behind me now. At a time like this you are forced to deal with your irreducible essence, forced to grapple with that which is really important to you. And what I have concluded about life,” Hubert Humphrey said, “When all is said and done, we must forgive each other, and redeem each other, and move on.”
“Our party is emerging from one of its most hard fought battles for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination in our history,” said Jackson. “But our healthy competition should make us better, not bitter.”
Cruz would do well to forgive and move on. Certainly this should be most demonstrative of the Party of faith and family values, and anyone who follows Christ.
God bless our great nation, the GOP, and the candidacy of Donald J. Trump for President of the United States.

NBA Pulls the All-Star Game from Charlotte
Friday, July 22, 2016
Under the direction of Adam Silver, a man who has advocated for the legalization of the evil and immoral practice of sports betting, it comes as no surprise that he now leads the NBA in a malicious scheme to score a wicked goal on North Carolina.
It’s simple despite the NBA’s objections and misrepresentation of HB 2. Men shouldn’t be allowed to use women’s bathrooms. Women and young girls shouldn’t be forced to undress or shower in the presence of men. Neither should the government be allowed to force people or groups to promote ideas or participate in events they find morally objectionable. HB 2 overturned Charlotte’s egregious ordinance which would have perpetrated these injustices on its citizens, as well as others in the state.
North Carolina shouldn’t be daunted in its support for its lawmakers who passed the bill or it’s Governor, who signed it. We should only be ashamed if we were willing to prostitute the safety of our women and children out for the approval of sports and entertainment figures and the promise of their money. We should only be ashamed if we were willing to sell America’s birthright, which entitles private businesses and churches to live and work according to their peacefully held beliefs, in exchange for the NBA’s mess of pottage.
Make no mistake, by insisting that the common sense measure HB 2 either be repealed or amended as they require before bringing the All-Star Game to Charlotte, is not only a form of blackmail, but a decadence based in political correctness that turns true morality on its head.
North Carolina should answer the NBA in the same manner Peter responded to sinful Simon Magus in Acts chapter 8 and verse 20. In so many words the Apostle said, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought something so precious and sacred could be purchased with money.”
