Return America is calling on North Carolinians to take a stand for Biblical marriage. The Wallburg, North Carolina-based organization, headed by Ron Baity, is urging the state’s citizens to take a stand to show Attorney General Roy Cooper and other state leaders they expect them to defend “duly-enacted constitutional law put in place by the people of North Carolina – our marriage amendment!” The group is urging supporters of North Carolina’s Marriage Protection Amendment and traditional values to attend a rally on the Halifax Mall behind the Legislative Building in Raleigh, September 30, 2014 at 11:00 am.
Dr. Mark Harris, former U.S. Senate candidate and currently the pastor of the First Baptist Church, Charlotte, recently sent out an email urging concerned citizens to support the rally. Harris wrote:
“[T]here are moments that call for mobilization due to the continued pressure to watch our culture and society stray further and further from what is right and what is best! This is such a moment.
“Some of you may remember just a few weeks back when news was made about individuals delivering some 10,000 signatures on a petition to the Governor of NC, demanding he stop defending the Marriage Amendment, which is in our NC Constitution, passed by 61% of the citizens just 28 months ago.
“While our NC’s Attorney General, Roy Cooper, has sat down on his job to defend our state’s constitution, the Governor in a statement, continued to speak of his support for traditional marriage. But it is a very important time to step up, and show up in Raleigh, to once again let our leaders know we meant business in the years leading up to the overwhelming passage of the Marriage Amendment, and we mean business now to defend it.”
Speakers slated to speak at the rally are nationally-known personalities, including Dr. Ron Baity, Attorney David Gibbs III, Chad Connelly, Dr. Mark Harris, and Tim Butler. The Inspirations Quartet will be providing a concert to kick-off the program.
“As you can see, there is a tremendous group of leaders who will be speaking and encouraging our state’s elected officials to stand strong!” wrote Dr. Harris. “But it is your presence, and any car load, van load, or bus load of folks sharing your concern for where our nation is headed, that will ultimately make the biggest difference,” he added.
Dr. Mark Creech, executive director of the Christian Action League, noted that Christians by the thousands need to make their way to the rally in Raleigh. He urged that many start making arrangements now. “Churches need to announce it. Arrangements need to be made quickly. Some may even want to ask to get off work that day, take some sick leave, or vacation time. We make the time to do the things we want to do, or the things we really believe in. We make the necessary sacrifices. What could be more important than standing for marriage – standing for marriage for Christ’s sake – standing for marriage for future generations, our children and grandchildren? Traditional values are on the decline and without that serious concerted voice of moral and biblical authority our state and nation are surely doomed to perdition” said Dr. Creech.
